Pasture Raised Mangalitsa Ham

Heritage Breed • Pasture Raised • Intentionally Fed

At Honey Pot Farmstead, our ham starts long before the smoker. It starts with the pigs.

We raise purebred Mangalitsa pigs — a heritage breed prized for its rich marbling, old-world flavor, and natural tenderness. Our pigs are slow-grown on open pasture in Central Texas, living outdoors as they were meant to.

Just as important as how they live is what they eat. Our pigs are fed a clean, carefully selected diet designed to support healthy fat development without industrial shortcuts or confinement practices.

The result is a ham unlike anything found in grocery stores — richly marbled, deeply savory, and naturally tender.

Your Pork Shouldn't Be White

Conventional pork is bred for leanness, resulting in pale meat lacking flavor and moisture. One look at our Mangalitsa pork tells a different story – the meat is richly red with beautiful marbling throughout. This isn't just a visual difference. The deep color indicates higher myoglobin content and intramuscular fat, translating directly to more flavor and moisture in every bite. When you cook our pork, you'll notice it stays juicy and tender, even if you accidentally overcook it a bit.
