Mangalitsa Ham — Naturally Smoked Heritage Pork

Our Mangalitsa ham starts long before the smokehouse — it starts with how we raise the pigs.

At Honey Pot Farmstead, we raise purebred Mangalitsa hogs, a heritage lard breed known for rich marbling, old-world flavor, and natural tenderness. Our pigs are pasture-raised in Central Texas, slow-grown outdoors to full maturity — never rushed, never confined.

Just as important as how they live is what they eat. Our hogs are fed a clean, intentional diet designed to support healthy fat development and deep, natural flavor — without industrial shortcuts, confinement, or filler feeds.

The result is a ham that doesn’t resemble supermarket pork — richly marbled, deeply savory, and naturally juicy with real heritage character.

Roasting & Carving Selection

These are true centerpiece hams, built for the oven, the carving board, and the family table.

  • Petit Ham: 3–5 lb — perfect for smaller households, intimate dinners, or a simple farmstead roast
  • Standard Ham: 5–7 lb — ideal for family meals and modest holiday gatherings
  • Farmstead Ham: 8–10 lb — a balanced choice for hosting, meal prep, or feeding a table with leftovers

Each ham is vacuum sealed and labeled with exact weight. Natural variation is normal for pasture-raised heritage animals.

Flavor & Texture

  • Deep, savory flavor with gentle sweetness from traditional sugar curing
  • Exceptional juiciness from natural intramuscular marbling
  • Tender, old-world texture from slow-grown heritage pork
  • Naturally smoked to complement, not overpower

This is ham meant to be carved, shared, and remembered.

Your Pork Shouldn't Be White

Conventional pork is bred for leanness, resulting in pale meat lacking flavor and moisture. One look at our Mangalitsa pork tells a different story – the meat is richly red with beautiful marbling throughout. This isn't just a visual difference. The deep color indicates higher myoglobin content and intramuscular fat, translating directly to more flavor and moisture in every bite. When you cook our pork, you'll notice it stays juicy and tender, even if you accidentally overcook it a bit.
